Broadway Bubble Mosaic
The Broadway Bubble is both a laundromat and an important Kingston community hub working with community members facing significant challenges due to the effect of poverty and systemic racism. Kingston Ceramics Studio staff member, Annie Mesa, began volunteering to teach a free ceramics workshop to create a motivational mosaic at The Broadway Bubble to beautify and be admired by the community. Members of the community have been meeting weekly to create pieces for what is sure to be a meaningful and collaborative public art project.
The Broadway Bubble and Kingston Midtown Rising work together to offer support and connections to vital services that meet the needs of the most vulnerable members of our community and, together, they are coordinating and providing space for this project. Kingston Ceramics Studio is providing materials, tools, and firing services to support this project and the people working on making it happen because everyone can benefit from being creative; and sharing and enjoying art should be something we all experience.
