Clay n' Play
Ages 8–12
Clay n' Play is a fun, hands-on summer ceramics program where kids learn real clay skills while creating projects of their own. Classes meet three half-days each week, and students may register for one week or as many weeks as they'd like.
Each week has it's own project with a different focus, and will be centered around one technique, or the other:
-
Weeks beginning 7/13, 7/27 & 8/10: Handbuilding
-
Weeks beginning 7/20, 8/03 & 8/17: Pottery Wheel
With just 10 students and two instructors, every child receives plenty of individual attention while enjoying the creativity of working with others. Students learn the fundamentals of ceramics, then use those skills to create projects that reflect their own ideas and interests.
Firing is included for up to three finished pieces per week, and students are encouraged to slow down, add details, and choose their favorite work for glazing and firing.
Clay n' Play is a creative, screen-free experience that builds confidence, problem-solving skills, independence, and friendships, all while having fun with clay.
